Need up sharply in 2011:

In 2011, there continued to be a dramatic rise in use of NSC Programs: 

Food Pantry was up nearly 6%, following an 8% rise in 2010.

Clients served by our Case Managers were up 7.4% in 2011.

In 2011, NSC provided:

2,258 separate visits to the Food Pantry - serving 5,357 people

Over 11,000 bags groceries to Natick residents

Over 100,000 pound of food to Natick residents

Over 200 families with housing and heating assistance

Over 400 children, teens, and elders with holiday gifts

125 children and adults with access to preventative dental care

233 backpacks full of back-to-school supplies 

620 people with Thanksgiving food baskets

Over 150 volunteers with a way to make a difference

Board of Directors

The NSC Board is comprised of several community members who play an active and critical role in the organization and within the Natick community.  NSC has a tradition of deep involvement by Board members and Board members are closely involved in many critical functions of the organization, including strategic diretion, fundraising initiatives, and program design.

Elizabeth S. Hendler, President

Elizabeth (Liz) has lived in Natick, MA since 1994, and is married with two daughters. Liz serves as Vice President of Employment Law at Boston Scientific Corporation in Natick, where she has worked since 2005.  Prior to working for Boston Scientific, Liz held several other legal positions including Associate General Counsel at Brandeis University, and Deputy General Counsel of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, where she handled complaints of discrimination in employment, housing and places of public accommodation.  Liz is a graduate of Yale University and the Boston University School of Law.

Christine Cameron, Vice President

Chrissie is a life long Natick resident and very proud of it! She is a Principal Regulatory Specialist at Hologic Inc, a medical device company that specializes in women's health. In addition to being a Board member and past President of the Board, Chrissie enjoys giving back to her community by volunteering at the Vi Tutuny Food Pantry.

Violetta A. Tutuny

Vi is a life-long resident of Natick and teacher (retired) in the Natick Public School system for nearly forty years.  Vi has been affiliated with the Natick Service Council since 1991, serving as long time pantry volunteer and Board Member.  The Vi Tutuny Food Pantry is named in her honor.

Vi has served on numerous town committees, including the Johnson School Committee, the Natick Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, and the Natick Education Foundation - where she was awarded the Harriet F. Siegel Shining Light Award.  Vi is a life-long member of Natick's Albanian Orthodox Church and currently serves as Vice Chairwoman of the Church's Parish Council and Vetetima Women's Society.

Bob Brack

Robert B. Brack was elected president of Barker Steel Company, Inc. in January 1976.  Mr. Brack joined Barker Steel (a family business) in 1960.  On January 1, 2003 he became President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board.  In June of 2011, he joined the Board of Directors of the Natick Service Council.

Mr. Brack and his family lived in Natick for many years.  He was a Town Meeting Member in Natick for 19 years and served on the Youth and Human Resource Committee, the Recreation Commission, and is a past president of the Natick Organic Community Farm.  Mr. Brack is a past President of the CRSI Education and Research Foundation and is a Trustee of the Foundation for Metrowest.   He received a Distinguished Achievement Award from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in May of 2009.

Mr. Brack earned a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a MEd from Northeastern University. 

 

Michael Carr

Michael is a life-long Natick resident.  He is an owner of a real estate development company and has served on NSC's board of directors since 2007.  Michael is active in the community and a long time benefactor of NSC.

Richard Gill

Rich Gill joined NSC's Board of Directors in February, 2011.  Rich is the owner of Brigham Gill Chrysler Jeep Dodge as well as an active member in the Natick Community.  He is also Vice President of the New England Chrysler Jeep Dealers Association.  Rich brings a wealth of business, strategic,  and executive management experience to NSC.

Jeanette Szretter

A Natick resident for more than 30 years, Jeanette has served as an active volunteer and board member of several non-profit organizations. Her work as a Spanish teacher and Community Service Director at a local high-school has allowed her to develop a deeper understanding of the challenges facing our neighbors and how to work effectively within the community, making use of the many resources available to us. Jeanette looks forward to building upon the deeply rooted history of the Natick Service Council, to support our neighbors in need.
